PORTLAND
VISITORS GUIDE

A print marketing campaign and logo design for Portland, Oregon.

MOOD BOARD

I started by pulling inspiration from everything I personally know about Portland like rainy days, industrial architecture, moody spaces, and artistic expression.

LOGO DRAFTS

The logo needed to reflect the qualities that make Portland unique and express the feeling someone would get when they went to visit. The key words I referenced while coming up with logo concepts were: industrial, rustic, eccentric, offbeat.

LOGO FINAL

This logo fit the criteria for portraying an urban, industrial vibe by referencing the bricks in Portland's architecture. It also intentionally features rounded corners and a variation in width/height of the letters in order to not come off too rigid and serious (as Portland is anything but).

VISITORS GUIDE DRAFTS

My first concepts for the visitors guide included illustrations to allude to the artistic and "randomness" of the city, but ultimately they were distracting from the context of the actual guide so I decided to forgo them.

VISITORS GUIDE FINAL

The final guide featured cleaner spreads with emphasis on red elements that included callouts, drop caps, and the motif of rectangle shapes alluding to the logo.
